Elias Naim Ghassali, beloved husband of Terez, father of Mike, Eddie, Rosette, and Rita. Grandfather of Jonathan, Christine, Ellie, Michael, Christopher, Terry, Andrew, and Danny. Great grandfather of Vincent and Valentina.
He passed into the presence of our God and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born in Mardin, Turkey in 1928. At age seven, he immigrated to Aleppo, Syria, where in time he embarked upon his profession in clothing design and tailoring. In August 1963, he married his beloved wife Theresa. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September.
Together they raised four wonderful children. In 1980, they immigrated to the United States, living first in Dumont, New Jersey, and later to Westwood, NJ. Elias and Theresa worked hand-in-hand at their tailoring shop, Pyramid Tailoring, in Dumont, later moving to Bergenfield where they were highly respected and loved by their clients.
He took great pride in his workmanship until he was able to say in the words of Saint Paul “I fought the good fight, I finished the race”. He and his wife made the difficult decision of moving their family to the States, to provide a better opportunity at life for themselves, and generations to follow. Elias was a man of few, but valuable, words of wisdom, and encouragement. Faithful to God, and his family, he possessed a humble spirit and led an exemplary life.
