Frances Mary (Layden) Smith

FRANCES MARY (Layden) SMITH passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021 at her home in Fair Lawn, NJ. She previously resided in Totowa Boro, NJ where she met and fell in love with her soulmate, the late Frank H. Smith, Jr.
She was employed in the Finance Department of the Fair Lawn Borough Hall for 22 years before her retirement.
She will be greatly mourned by her children, Susan Smith Valentine, Robert and Rhonda Smith; her grandchildren, Steven Smith, Christina and Greg Kreha, Colleen Smith and her fiance, Gage Nigro; her great-grandchildren, Sloane Kreha and Franklynn Kreha; her sisters, Jeanmarie Zarek, and Helen and Gilbert Davis; her sister-in-law, Carol Smith Reise and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary (Gorman) Layden; her brother-in laws, Joseph Zarek and Preston Reise; and her son-in-law, Kevin Valentine.
Frances had requested that no memorial ceremony or viewing be provided. A private ceremony will be performed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes or the Lustgarten Foundation.
