Janet Bosland

Janet Bosland, age 89, of Saddle Brook, passed away on July 30, 2023. 

Janet was born in Clifton to Steven and Katherine Taynai on June 16, 1934. When she married her husband Robert, they moved to Saddle Brook in 1955 where they raised their three children. Janet worked as a secretary for St. Annes in Fair Lawn, NJ. 

Janet was a woman of strong faith and a servant's heart. She was a longtime member of Grace Church in Ridgewood. Janet served there in many ways over the years, including welcoming people with her husband Bob as Sunday greeters. Janet's characteristic warmth and enthusiasm were infectious. Janet was devoted to Community Bible Study in Midland Park. Over 30 years there she became a legendary leader, teaching hundreds of children well into her 80s. As a teacher she brought the Bible to life with her lively storytelling, filling the classroom with her creative use of props (often utilizing the talents of her husband). She choreographed the "Sheep Shuffle" for the teachers to perform, in costume, for the children, but there were also encores for the adults. "Miss Janet" was an evangelist at heart, pointing people to Jesus in tangible ways. Her special passion was sharing details of Jesus' death and resurrection with anyone she met using cartons of "Resurrection eggs.” She loved to leave Bible verses in unexpected places for people to find, hoping to encourage a stranger to reach out to Jesus. Janet inspired generations of women and children by the way she shared her love for God and people with her unique, ever present laughter and joy.

Janet is the beloved wife of the late Robert P. Bosland. She is survived by her son Robert S. Bosland and his wife Catherine, daughter Lori Charamis and her husband Larry, and daughter Lynn Fecci and her husband Robert. She is the dear grandmother to Kelli Smith and her husband Bryan, John Bosland, Kristen Harrah and her husband Philip, Nicholas Charamis and his wife Rachel, Christopher Fecci, Melissa Fecci, and Samantha Fecci, and great grandmother of Rylan Charamis. 

A private funeral service was held from Kugler Community Home for Funerals, 311 Fifth St. Saddle Brook, NJ. A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Church, 340 Meadowbrook Ave, in Ridgewood NJ on August 26, 2023, at 11am.
