Joseph (Joe) Marcincin, age 87, of Saddle Brook, NJ, passed away on June 30, 2024. He was born on January 28, 1937, in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, to the late Joseph and Laura Marcincin (nee Slozenski). Joe spent his childhood in Garfield, NJ, before settling in Saddle Brook, where he was a proud resident.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine Marcincin (nee Schubert); his two dear daughters, Karen DiRienzo and her husband Vincent, and Gail Yosh and her husband William; and his five cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Julia, and Olivia DiRienzo and Katherine and Emily Yosh.
Joe was a graduate of Pope Pius XII High School Class of 1954. He continued his education at the American Academy of Mortuary Science in New York City to pursue a career as a funeral director. After finishing his studies, he completed two apprenticeships for Nieberg & Sons in Brooklyn, NY, and Leber Funeral Home in Union City, NJ. Joe proudly enlisted in the Army in 1957. He completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, and advanced training at Fort Lee, VA. He went on to serve for six years in the Army Reserve, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning from military service, Joe resumed his career at DeLuccia Funeral Home in Paterson, NJ, earning his funeral director license in both New York and New Jersey by the age of 23. He worked for Nieberg & Sons for 28 years before starting his own corporation as a self-employed funeral director in 1987 until his retirement.
Joe took immense pride in his daughters' achievements and his grandchildren's academic and athletic accomplishments. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. His warm smile, friendliness, and jokes will be missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 5, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Kugler Funeral Home, 311 5th Street, Saddle Brook, NJ (973) 478-2500. On Saturday, family and friends will meet at the funeral home for prayer services at 9:30 a.m., followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Clifton, NJ.
