Joseph M. Ribarro passed away on January 10, 2025, which was also his 98th birthday. Joseph was born in Garfield, NJ and moved to Saddle Brook, NJ in 1956. Joe is the Beloved husband of the late Betty Jean Auliso. Dear father to daughters Sandy (wife of Tom del Corral) and JoAnn (wife of Dan Schiano). Proud grandfather of David, Adam, Brian, Chris, Rebecca, and Rachel and great grandfather of Maryn, Brynn, Taylor, Kyle, Alex, and Miles. Joe is predeceased by his dear son Joseph, brothers James, Charles, Anthony and Benny and sisters Mary and Grace.
Joseph proudly served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Gordonia and received numerous commendations including the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Joe would often share interesting stories about his time in the Navy with family and friends.
Joe was a Plasterer in the construction business for many years, and afterwards worked at Garfield Lumber Supply. During his many years in Saddle Brook, Joseph was faithfully involved in Township organizations and activities including being a member of the Saddle Brook Planning Board, Saddle Brook Zoning Board, Saddle Brook Seniors and enjoyed all the activities that the great town of Saddle Brook had to offer where he was a respected member of the community.
Joe was always up for spirited political discussions and was best known for jigsaw puzzle making, a hobby that he started with his wife Betty. He always wanted to give a puzzle away to anyone that liked them. He also enjoyed tending to a small garden in the summer, especially his tomatoes and basil. He was fond of trips to Atlantic City with his friends and enjoyed Senior Center Bingo. Joe was an avid scrabble player and loved crossword scratch off lottery tickets. Joseph could frequently be found cooking up a frittata or pounding chicken cutlets. Betty and Joe always were ready to feed you something when you visited. May the memories of Joe Ribarro be forever in our hearts.
