MARIIA TURCHYN, age 83 of Lodi, NJ passed away on September 29th, 2020. Mariia was born and spent most of her life in Ukraine, moving to the United States to be with her daughter, Tetyana Fedak, and her family later in life. She was a loving and deeply caring mother, wife, sister and grandmother. Having basically grown up as an orphan herself, she dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren. Not a day went by that they did not feel her kindness and love for them. Mariia was married for 59 years to her husband, Igor Turchyn, and they raised three children together. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, all of whom carry a deep appreciation for the impact that she had on their lives.
Her care and compassion for people extended outside the home as Mariia worked in the medical field for many years. It was a career she deeply loved as her passion in life was to help others. She poured her energy into being a kind and caring soul. Often times, her own life was not easy so Mariia found it important to make the lives of those around her a bit better.
Having grown up outside of a city, Mariia fell in love with nature at an early age. She loved spending time outside, going for nature walks, and finding different types of wildflowers and plants. She found great pleasure in observing birds and listening to them sing. Mariia passed on that love of nature to her kin as she often had family visiting her summer home just outside the Carpathian mountains. When going outside was difficult, she enjoyed embroidering in the traditional Ukrainian style.
Mariia's passion, love and kindness will be missed deeply by those close to her. However, her legacy of being a bright light in many people's lives will always be remembered. "Vichnaya Pamyat".
