Virgilio Horacio Vargas passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a full and meaningful life and will be deeply missed. 

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Elba; his son Ramon; and his siblings Melba, Libia, Ramiro, Licinio, Hidacio, Virgilia, and Otto. He is survived by his siblings Dalila, Fremio, and Adonis; his children Henry, Hernan, Jose, Lucia, and Silvia; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Virgilio Horacio Vargas was a man of integrity, with strong values and well-defined passions. His life was dedicated to his family, his people, and his community. He enjoyed a good whiskey, Western movies, and baseball in the company of his loving friends and family in his home. 

He was born in Luperón, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, on January 5, 1932, to the late Horacio Vargas and Mercedes Hernandez. In his hometown of Luperón, he began his career at the old post office as a telephone operator, later being promoted to secretary of the Partido Dominicano. Eventually, he became the municipal treasurer of the city council of Luperón, a position created for him due to his agility with numbers and his dedication. In Santo Domingo, he worked for Perforados Técnicos. Although his knowledge of English was basic, he held a managerial position at Thermax Wiring Company in Queens, NY, until his retirement.

Our father was a man of firm principles who created a lasting foundation for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His legacy endures in the memories and affection of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services from Kugler Funeral Home 311 5th St. Saddle Brook, NJ. Visiting hours on Thursday, September 5th from 5-9pm.  Afterwards, Virgilio will return to his hometown of Luperon in Dominican Republic for further services and celebration of his life

Virgilio Horacio Vargas falleció pacíficamente el 31 de agosto de 2024, rodeado de su amada familia. Vivió una vida plena y significativa, y será profundamente extrañado.

Le preceden en la muerte su querida esposa de 68 años, Elba; su hijo Ramón; y sus hermanos Melba, Libia, Ramiro, Licinio, Hidacio, Virgilia y Otto. Le sobreviven sus hermanos Dalila, Fremio y Adonis; sus hijos Henry, Hernán, José, Lucía y Silvia; nietos; y bisnietos.

Virgilio Horacio Vargas fue un hombre de integridad, con sólidos valores y pasiones bien definidas. Su vida estuvo dedicada a su familia, su gente y su comunidad. Disfrutaba de un buen whisky, las películas del oeste y el béisbol en compañía de sus queridos amigos y familiares en su hogar.

Nació en Luperón, Puerto Plata, República Dominicana, el 5 de enero de 1932, hijo de los fallecidos Horacio Vargas y Mercedes Hernández. En su ciudad natal de Luperón, comenzó su carrera en la antigua oficina de correos como operador telefónico, siendo posteriormente ascendido a secretario del Partido Dominicano. Eventualmente, se convirtió en el tesorero municipal del ayuntamiento de Luperón, un cargo creado para él debido a su agilidad con los números y su dedicación. En Santo Domingo, trabajó para Perforados Técnicos. Aunque su conocimiento del inglés era básico, ocupó un puesto gerencial en Thermax Wiring Company en Queens, NY, hasta su jubilación.

Nuestro padre fue un hombre de principios firmes que creó una base duradera para sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. Su legado perdura en los recuerdos y el cariño de todos los que lo conocieron y amaron.
